Frequently Asked Questions

Can I wash my dog with regular shampoo?

We'd always recommend using a dedicated pet shampoo to wash your dog. But if you're in a pinch after a wet and wintery walk, a one-off with your own shampoo shouldn't hurt. Try not to make this a regular occurrence, however; dogs need a very gentle option to prevent irritation. Try to keep the PH levels as close to seven as possible. Baby shampoo is a better option than for adults, if you really must use traditional shampoo.

How often should you bathe a dog?

Obviously, if you go for a very muddy romp and your dog comes back caked in dirt, it's time for a bath. But in general, a good rule of thumb is one bath every four weeks. Nonetheless, this will depend on a number of factors including coat type, how dirty they get and other lifestyle factors. If you're unsure, it's best to ask a professional groomer or vet for advice on the best frequency for your particular dog. If your dog enjoys rolling round in mud and fox poo often then we recommend opting for the Duke Fluffington Deep Shampoo.

My dog has sensitive skin, which shampoo should I use?

If your dog has sensitive skin then Sir Barkley Sensitive Shampoo, is the best option – it's been designed to offer anti-inflammatory properties while minimising irritation and dryness. Alternatively, the Lord Pawsington Aleo Shampoo formulation includes tea tree, which has antibacterial properties, and lemon to help boost circulation and give that fresh, zesty scent.

What does dilutable mean?

Our product range is highly concentrated, using some of the best natural ingredients available. This means that you only need to mix a small amount of the formula with warm water to achieve the same desired result. This also makes it more economical for customers as it ensures at least 10 washes for each 300ml bottle. For example the Lady Farrington Conditioner is dilutable 30:1 so for every 1ml conditioner mix 30ml of warm water. We recommend using a 500ml bottle for mixing at the advised ratio for the specific product. So for this example mix 15ml with 450ml and shake vigorously. If you want to use a stronger formula then adjust the mix ratios accordingly, however, always patch test on your dog initially to ensure they don't have any adverse reactions.
